My Top 20 Favorite Pokémon!
Briefly under construction, please be patient while I proofread and fix things up :-)

#1: Vaporeon
Nickname: Enfys
Gender: Male
Personality: Enfys is a friendly and loyal companion where spreads joy anywhere he goes. He loves to follow Ruby around and prefers freshwater.
Relationships: Enfys is closest with Poe (My Haunter) and Juliet (My Kirlia) because they have been traveling together the longest! They are like siblings to each other.
Why I like them: I became infatuated with Vaporeon when the Pokémon games first introduced animated sprites. The way Vaporeon moves is so wiggly and fun! Enfys (Welsh for "rainbow") is the most comforting of my Pokémon companions, and my Enfys plushies helped me through surgery and recovery on two separate occasions when I suffered from heart disease.

#2: Haunter
Nickname: Poe (or Hawthorne)
Gender: Male
Personality: Poe is paternal and has a strong sense of humor. He loves to play practical jokes, and prefers to accompany Ruby when traversing through dangerous territories.
Relationships: Poe is especially close with Juliet and Enfys, they are very close friends. Poe loves Ruby and wants to protect her.
Why I like them: Haunter's design is so appealing! I love that he's purple, has a big friendly face, and most of all is BIG! He is sooo cute and I think the Lick attack looks so funny with his huge mouth.

#3: Kirlia
Nickname: Juliet (or Aurora)
Gender: Female
Personality: Juliet is very quiet, stoic, and reserved, but she cares deeply about her friends. An Everstone user, she focuses on improving her psychic magic use from within her small but powerful form, rather than evolving to increase it.
Relationships: Juliet is especially close with Poe and Enfys like they are her siblings. She is also closely bonded with Cole (my Umbreon). Cole understands her more than anyone. She is also good friends with Cole's partner, Amethyst.
Why I like them: Kirlia is so adorable! I love that she looks so tiny and dainty but also strong. It gets me so hyped to bring out this little ballerina and blast a gigantic opponent away with her psychic powers. Her shiny form is especially appealing, I was really lucky to have a female shiny Kirlia in Sword.

#4: Umbreon
Nickname: Cole
Gender: Male
Personality: Cole is stoic and strong-headed, keeping mostly to himself.
Relationships: Cole is very close to Juliet and looks after her. He is romantically bonded to Amethyst.
Why I like them: The first time I got an Umbreon, I was playing Pokémon Ruby and traveling through a cave when my Eevee evolved into who is now Cole! This is one of the first Dark Pokémon I really bonded with. Umbreon's shiny form is especially stunning.

#5: Absol
Nickname: Amy
Gender: Female
Personality: Amy is a bit brooding and pretty reserved. She is slow to trust anyone but when she does, she is a fantastic friend.
Relationships: Amy is romantically bonded with Baxter and Lenora.
Why I like them: Absol has one of my favorite designs out of any Pokémon. The stark white of her fur paired with her dark face and red eyes reminds me of my favorite fantasy folk, the Drow. Absol is one of the Pokémon I most closely identify with, if I had to pick one as a fursona she would be my first choice.

#6: Miltank
Nickname: Bessie
Gender: Female
Personality: Bessie is cheerful and happy-go-lucky, and eager to use her immense strength to tackle enemies with joy.
Relationships: Bessie is friends with anyone who joins the party! She gets along particularly well with Goopy.
Why I like them: I mean, look at her! A pink cow! Miltank is so cute, and the first time I battled Whitney I remember being sooo mad at getting my butt kicked by her Miltank. Now I have that power for myself! Muahaha!

#7: Murkrow
Nickname: Hat
Gender: Male
Personality: Hat is quiet but very curious and nosey. He likes to listen to gossip, keep up-to-date on drama, and to "observe" (spy on) others from above. That being said, he's pretty harmless in this regard, given that he doesn't actually spread the rumors he collects. Hat also has a great sense of humor, he just doesn't like to show it with his deadpan expression.
Relationships: Hat and Vincent are very similar in their personalities, so they spend a lot of time together hanging out in trees and on powerlines. They have a comfortable, knowing silence between them.
Why I like them: Doesn't Murkrow look like Tokoyami?! Well, that's just one reason. I first bonded with Hat back when I played Heart Gold obsessively in high school, taking long walks through the woods with my Pokéwalker just about every day by myself. My rotating party never feels complete without him!

#8: Noctowl
Nickname: Vincent
Gender: Any
Personality: Much like their friend Hat, Vincent is a nosey owl who loves to watch shit go down. Vincent is very strong and likes to boast about it just a little by puffing out its chest proudly after successful attacks.
Relationships: Vincent and Hat are besties!
Why I like them: The first time I saw Hoothoot, I was playing at a friend's house and they had a set of new Pokémon toys I'd never seen before. I was immediately enamored with this weird, one-legged (although now I know that's not truly the case) owl with huge, orange eyes. When I played Heart Gold as a teenager, much like Hat, I became very attached to Vincent through our walks together. I was really happy when they evolved and became a bigger and even cuter owl.

#9: Furret
Nickname: Snurfl
Gender: Any
Personality: Snurfl is a wiggly and energetic bundle of chaos! It likes to fight, eat, cause mayhem, and run off in random directions for spontaneous adventures.
Relationships: Snurfl doesn't particularly care for others, but it gets along best with Amy and Bessie.
Why I like them: I know I say this about lots of Pokémon, but Furrets are so cute! I still love the little figurine I have of one from when I was a kid, and the animated sprites of Furret wiggling really sold me on how great this particular Pokémon is. I actually have a Furret fursona from years ago, named Snurfl, who my Furret is named after!

#10: Houndoom
Nickname: Baxter
Gender: Male
Personality: Baxter is brooding and quietly aggressive, don't mess with him! Despite this, he can be very gentle and sweet, especially to Ruby and Amy.
Relationships: Baxter has a close romantic bond with Amy. He also gets along well with Amy's other partner, Lenora.
Why I like them: Just look at him! What a cool design! I feel like Houndoom is such an upgrade from Houndour, the horns are just so cool and I love the spaded tail. There's something really cute about having a clearly villain-coded Pokémon be your friend.

#11: Goodra
Nickname: Goopy
Gender: Any
Personality: Goopy is a big, friendly, cuddly blob who loves everyone, especially Ruby. It's kind of like a big puppy, eager to play and snuggle but unaware of how huge and messy it is.
Relationships: Goopy gets along with everyone and loves every part of Ruby's rotating party!
Why I like them: Goodra is a relatively recent favorite for me in the Pokémon games! I wasn't really aware of them until I saw fanart and realized that Goomy evolves into something big and super cute. It's a lot like Dragonite, which would be the 21st Pokémon on this list if it was that long!

#12: Entei
Nickname: Papa
Gender: Male
Personality: Papa looks and acts very serious, but he is a loving fatherly figure to Ruby and her party. He likes to gently check in on everyone, make sure they're doing okay, and care for them when they're unwell. He is immensely strong and uses his strength to protect those he cares about.
Relationships: Papa loves Ruby and particularly cares for the smaller members of her party.
Why I like them: I was first introduced to Entei through Pokémon 3: The Movie, much like other kids. This is a bit of a recurring theme on this page, but I got really close to Entei through Heart Gold and our walks together. Around that time, my younger cousin gifted me a shiny Entei, who I believe to this day is still in my Pokéwalker! I like to see Entei as a guardian for my team.

#13: Pumpkaboo
Nickname: Seraphy
Gender: Female
Personality: Seraphy is an easygoing free spirit who loves to float and play!
Relationships: Seraphy is friends with Mindy and gets along well with just about everyone.
Why I like them: Another crazy cute design! I love Pumpkaboo's cute mouth and floofy face, and of course that adorable pumpkin body that bobs around as she floats. I named Seraphy after Melissa Seraphy from the visual novel Wagamama Capriccio, which is illustrated by one of my favorite Japanese artists!

#14: Zangoose
Nickname: Zee
Gender: Any
Personality: Picture Zee as almost like a bouncer for the party. Don't mess with their friends! Zee loves fruit and berries, and will glare at you if you even think about snagging a treat from their berry stash... But they'll probably end up sharing anyway. Tsundere much?
Relationships: Zee is close to Logan, both being bipedal creatures with strong abilities. They like sharing food and playing games together on picnics and outings.
Why I like them: I love how grumpy Zangoose looks! They've always had a bit of a resemblance to one of my school friends, who I've discretely named them after.

#15: Lucario
Nickname: Logan
Gender: Male
Personality: Logan may seem unfriendly at first, but really he's just shy. Logan has a childlike heart and cherishes his friends, who are like family to him. He takes time to warm up to you.
Relationships: Logan is best friends with Zee!
Why I like them: I'm not a SSB bro by any means, so the appeal of Lucario was lost on me for a long time. Eventually when I got a Riolu and evolved him though, I ended up totally falling in love with how cute this Pokémon is. I think it's really cute how Riolu is classified as a "baby Pokémon", and Lucario is like a successfully raised baby in that way. He feels really special to me for that reason.

#16: Espeon
Nickname: Amethyst
Gender: Female
Personality: Amethyst is shy and a little nervous to be around others. Despite her nervousness, she is incredibly strong, and brave when she needs to be.
Relationships: Amethyst is romantically bonded with Cole, and is good friends with Juliet.
Why I like them: You really can't go wrong with a purple eeveelution with a red gemstone on her head! And the tail! Espeon has to be one of the cutest psychic-types out there, and I love how well she matches with Umbreon.

#17: Ninetails
Nickname: Lenora
Gender: Female
Personality: Lenora has big "older sister" energy, holding herself to a higher standard of perfectionism in order to be the best teammate possible. She loves to study pyromancy and psychic magic in old tomes and has a strong ability to communicate telepathically. Lenora is by far the most intelligent of Ruby's Pokémon.
Relationships: Lenora is romantically bonded to Amy and is good friends with Baxter.
Why I like them: Initially, I was actually pretty scared of Ninetails as a kid! Gradually, she grew on me, especially when I successfully raised and evolved a Vulpix for the first time. Ninetails' design is just so pretty, and I like how floofy she looks.

#18: Mudsdale
Nickname: Clyde
Gender: Male
Personality: Clyde is independent and level-headed. He's a task-oriented Pokémon who doesn't care much for others.
Relationships: He is loyal to Ruby and doesn't really care about anyone other than his master.
Why I like them: Clyde + Mudsdale = Clydesdale! The horse this Pokémon is based off of is already so beautiful, I was amazed in Sword/Shield when I first saw a Mudsdale roaming around. They're so big and I want to ride one! I love horses. :3

#19: Mismagius
Nickname: Mindy
Gender: Female
Personality: Mindy loves cute things and will flock to them in a cuteness-induced frenzy, regardless of whether the subject is terrified of her ghostly self or not! She is energetic, fun, and blissfully unaware of how spooky she can be.
Relationships: Mindy is close to Seraphy, they love floating around and chatting together!
Why I like them: Mismagius is adorable, I love her purpleness and her cute hat that covers her eyes! The W-shaped mouth is really appealing, much like Haunter's similar face. A witchy ghost? I mean, come on. What's not to love?

#20: Luxray
Nickname: Sasuke
Gender: Male
Personality: Sasuke may seem serious and headstrong at first, but he has the heart of a playful kitten once you get to know him.
Relationships: Sasuke is closest to Ruby, but he gets along well with all of her other Pokémon, especially Logan.
Why I like them: I came to love Shinx as soon as it was introduced due to his strong resemblance to Kimba/Leo, and loved him more through every evolutionary stage we reached together. There aren't many electric-types I feel this strongly about, but Luxray will always be my #1 for them.
