Hey, hi, hello!
I figure this would be a good place to introduce myself and my website a little. :-) I'm Ruby, or Simi. I'm an adult lady who loves books and computers. And lists! In fact, some of my favorite things are: Seals, robots, wizards, the number 4, the color purple, aliens, so-bad-its-good literature, very strange literature, research, The Beatles, Paul McCartney independent of The Beatles, Pokémon, manga, visual novels, cats, hiking, camping, astral magic, meditation, animals, bicycles, swimming, art history, drawing & painting, psychedelia, graphic novels, singing, dancing, cosplay, making friends, springtime, fantasy, Diet Dr. Pepper, sexy women, vintage cars, traditional tattoos, trance music, hardcore techno, new wave, disco, being hugged, discussing art, receiving presents, woodworking, thrifting, werewolves, vampires, phonecalls from my mom or dad, Indian food, and bohemian style. | ||
Nah, but not really.
Owing to Neopets (a little "blog" above as an early example), I started learning HTML at a young age. It's been years since I last had the opportunity to code, and Neocities is so exciting given that I can start completely from scratch and build from there. My website is very beginner, but I'm really enjoying learning to code and searching for fun vintage web graphics through various archives.
I really appreciate you being here to check it out! Most of the site is heavily under construction, meaning that I still have a lot of coding and writing to do on most of the pages. I run into tricky problems pretty often, but figuring them out (especially with the help of some friends) is fun a lot of the time.

(Somewhat) Frequently Asked Questions:
What should I call you? Why have two names?
You can call me Ruby or Simi, and neither will upset me. While Ruby is a name my family chose for me, Simi is a name I chose for myself, so both come from places of love and respect. Simi actually comes from a few names I used previously: Simon (est. 2009) became Simeon, which became Simian, and then Simmy and then Simi. I've had two names for a long time due to the various ways and places in which I've expressed myself along my journey of self-discovery as a queer person. Rather than choose just one, it's always been nice to be called two ways. Now, I'm admittedly more comfortable with Ruby due to the closeness I feel with my family. But I will always be both to my friends.
What about pronouns?
I am indifferent to pronouns! Over the years I've been called she, he, they, and a couple of rude ones too, and I'm fine with whatever you use to talk about me as long as it's in good faith. I openly identify as a woman, and anything further than that is private.
Do you have [INSERT SOCIAL MEDIA HERE]?
In short, not really, but sort of. I have no desire to have any sort of presence on social media. I don't want followers or any sort of attention. While I do keep a few accounts around, they are purely for communicating with my family and a few of my close friends. If you know of them, please do not share them. If you are my friend and want to know of them, well, talk to me! On that note, I really dislike short-form media, so I don't use Tikkus-Tokkus or "reels" or whatever you kids are doing these days, dagnabbit. You can go ahead and DM me 90 reels if you want to, but I might be rude and just...Not watch them...
[Something about veganism]
I love these conversations and am more than happy to talk to you and answer any questions you may have in a nonjudgemental way, as long as you are respectful to me in return. I have been vegetarian my entire life and tried and failed to go vegan many times, I made a lifelong commitment to being vegan in July of 2023. 100% of this is for ethical reasons, improving my health was an added bonus! I know a lot about the subject and also offer many resources. In addition, there's a great reference document linked at the bottom of my homepage.
